And it was perhaps a reminder that he enjoyed a productive season on loan in the Championship.
The former Nordsjaelland winger is likely to be in demand for a loan move or something more permanent for the coming campaign after his efforts with Birmingham City last season.
Blues themselves are keen on his services having already taken James Beadle back on loan.
Osman has been with Albion for two years now and spent the first of those on loan at Feyenoord, where his season was seen as being up and down.
His half-season at Birmingham brought two goals and two assists although those tallies might have been even better.
There was some criticism of his end product having got into great positions but also excitement about his scope for improvement.
His efforts on the right wing against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday were ideal for the highlights package.
He was involved in a fine move down the right which he ended with a cutback from the byline which set up a tap-in for Charalampos Kostoulas.
Later there as an improvised overhead kick which sent the ball bouncing past a surprised goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
What those highlights did not show was what he did in his full 45 minutes.
Fabian Hurzeler demands high work-rate and defensive effort from his widemen and we do not know what the head coach made of Osman in that respect.
That is not to imply criticism at all. Just to point out all we have seen are the highlights.
Osman, 21, spent the first half of last season with Auxerre in France and is among several prospects the Seagulls have for wide areas.
He is under contract with the club until 2029 but Birmingham believe a permanent deal could be possible.
The problem for them would be affording it.
Blues boss Chris Davies said at the end of last season: “The best place for him is somewhere he’s loved and is going to play, get minutes and keep growing. I’d love him to come back but there’s a lot of moving parts there so we’ll see.”
From the outside, it would appear Albion do not need to chase a permanent sale.
They have Osman on a long contract and have a proven pathway of developing wingers.
Hurzeler used two XIs, so four wingers, in the game with Wycombe.
Yankuba Minteh worked the left flank in the first half.
And the second-half pairing was Tommy Watson on the left and Amario Cozier-Duberry on the right.
Both those players were on loan in the EFL last season – Watson only from January – and will have their own suitors for the coming campaign.
Alvion clearly have a busier season ahead thanks to European qualification but Hurzeler tended to only start with one genuine winger last season.
It would be no surprise if his initial plans included Minteh on the left and Diego Gomez on the right, especially while Kaoru Miroma completes his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Zadok Yohanna was not included against Wycombe, which might suggest he is still getting himself up to speed physically.
Rodrigo Rego and Yun Do-young have already gone out on loan.
It would be no surprise if Osman played his football elsewhere in the coming months, one way or another.
But he is off to a productive start in pre-season, which can do no harm.
