Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has signed for recently relegated Leicester City on a two-year deal.
McCarthy rose through the ranks in Berkshire to make over 75 appearances for the Royals before signing for QPR in 2014.
The 36-year-old former England international joined the Foxes following his summer departure from Southampton, where he spent 10 years and was part of the Saints side that secured promotion to the Premier League through the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs in 2023/24.
Speaking to LCFC.com, he said: “I’m really pleased to have joined Leicester City. It is a Club with a strong history and clear ambitions, and the conversations I’ve had about the direction of the team made this feel like the right challenge for me.
“I’ve experienced lots throughout my career and I hope I can use that to make a positive contribution, both in games and around the training ground. I’m looking forward to working with the other goalkeepers, competing every day and playing my part in what we want to achieve.”
He had spells with Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace before joining Southampton in 2016, going on to make more than 150 appearances for the south coast club in all competitions.
