Head coach Zlatko Dalic is expected to revert to a back four as they take on Panama in Toronto.

Vuskovic was at the centre of a three for most the opening 4-2 defeat by England.

But he is widely thought to be less comfortable in a four.

That theory in itself might add an interesting sub-plot to Albion’s quest to sign him.

Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic went on as substitute in the final half-hour of the opening fixture and earned high marks in Croatia.

Kovacic was put forward for the eve-of-match press conference, which was being taken as a firm indication he will be in the initial XI.

Albion are believed to have offered Spurs in excess of £40 million for Vuskovic.

They have yet to strike a deal, even though Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi does not see the youngster as part of his current plans.

Vuskovic had a mixed night against Harry Kane and company.

He was beaten in the air as the England skipper headed his second goal of the game from a routine corner.

But he won the ball strongly at the back to pave the way for the first Croatia equaliser in the Dallas thriller.
