Leicester City are said to be eyeing up a potential summer swoop for Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.
However, any pursuit of the 24-year-old by City could rest on a set of transfer dominos. It comes as doubt has been cast on Okonkwo’s position as first-choice between the posts for the Welsh club.
City are facing an important transfer window following successive relegations. There will be a rebuilding of the squad under Russell Martin as attention turns to a bid to escape from League One.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, via Patreon, Okonkwo is a target for the Foxes. A permanent move to the King Power Stadium is a possibility but City are also “open” to a season-long loan deal for the Nigeria international.
The prospect of the club acting upon their interest may depend on whether Okonkwo is replaced as No.1 at the Racecourse Ground. Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is said to want Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson as his top keeper but there is competition for the 26-year-old’s signature from Millwall, who want him back for a second loan after his stint in the capital for the second half of last term.
Nixon states Wrexham are “trying harder” than their Championship rivals for Patterson and “hope to agree” a deal in the near future. A loan deal appears likely, which may impact whether Okonkwo would be considered for his own temporary spell elsewhere or whether he might be sold.

In the Championship last season, Jakub Stolarczyk was the mainstay at No.1 for City with 38 appearances. His shot-stopping came under criticism during a particularly miserable run without a clean-sheet
Okonkwo came up through the ranks at Premier League champions Arsenal but didn’t make a single appearance for the first-team during his time at the Emirates. He had a succession of loans, at Crewe Alexandra, Sturm Graz and Wrexham, before signing for the latter permanently in 2024.
