Nottingham Forest ace Morgan Gibbs-White was at the centre of transfer speculation last summer

Nottingham Forest ace Morgan Gibbs-White has top six quality, according to pundit Teddy Sheringham.
But the former Reds striker has warned any potential suitors they would likely be met with stiff resistance if admiring glances are cast in Gibbs-White’s direction. The 26-year-old is under contract at the City Ground until 2028 and is of vital importance to Vitor Pereira’s side.
Gibbs-White, who was wanted by Tottenham Hotspur last summer, did not make the cut for England’s World Cup squad. Although Sheringham feels the playmaker has the right attitude for competing on the global stage, he believes shining in the Premier League better suits his game.

In an interview with BOYLE Sports, Sheringham said: “Is Morgan Gibbs-White a big miss for England this summer? I really like him as a Premier League player.
“He words hard. He’s tenacious. He’s the sort of player who looks ready to die for the cause. But that’s not all of what’s needed at international level.
“It’s that little step up in quality at certain times that you want to see and I think Gibbs-White is more suited to the Premier League than the World Cup. But if I was at a top six club, I’d be looking to get him in this summer, without a shadow of a doubt, if Evangelos Marinakis would let you.”

Gibbs-White was at the centre of much transfer talk 12 months ago and came close to joining Spurs. But instead of heading south to the capital, the Forest skipper ended up staying put.
In a surprise twist, he signed a new deal Trentside – with Reds owner Marinakis playing a key role in resolving the situation during a pre-season training camp in Portugal. It proved to be one of the club’s most important pieces of business of the summer as Gibbs-White played an integral role in the 2025/26 campaign.
He will be Forest’s talisman again when the new term kicks off, being influential on and off the pitch. And his significance to the Reds will only increase given it seems likely midfielder Elliot Anderson will head to Manchester City.
The FA Cup winners have been chasing Anderson for some time. Recent reports have suggested they are confident of getting a deal done.
