Officers responded to reports of a man with a knife in Poole town centre on Wednesday, June 17. 

The incident occurred on Skinner Street, where officers detained an individual matching the description.

A spokesperson for Poole Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “An individual matching the description was detained swiftly by officers in the area of Skinner Street and searched.

“The search was negative and the individuals involved were issued dispersal notices to leave the area.”

Elsewhere in recent policing activity, officers have been patrolling Broadstone following multiple reports of young people knocking on elderly residents’ doors and behaving in an intimidating manner.

The spokesperson said: “please look out for vulnerable residents and encourage them to report similar incidents.”

Neighbourhood officers have responded to nine reports of antisocial behaviour, taking positive action, including issuing two Section 35 dispersal orders.

They have also carried out two stop and searches, six address checks and reassurance visits to victims of crime, vulnerable individuals, and known offenders.

In addition, officers have seized four weapons from properties, attended two community engagement events, and conducted a cuckooing check.

Significant time has been spent on foot and mobile patrols, focusing on high-priority areas such as Poole Town, Oakdale, and Broadstone.
