Celtic star Arne Engels will reportedly decide his future before returning for pre-season training.
The four-time Belgium cap is attracting suitors across Europe just months after Nottingham Forest saw a £25million bid booted out by the Scottish champions in the winter window.
Sources in Engels’ homeland have told Record Sport the Celtic midfielder has switched agents as he looks to take the next step in his career – with Forest, Sunderland and Fulham all showing interest from the Premier League.
In Italy, Lazio’s interest in Engels also emerged last month while Milan and Napoli are both said to be considering an approach for the 22-year-old. German giants Borussia Dortmund are also said to have scouted the playmaker.
According to Belgian outlet Voetbal Krant , the Celtic midfielder is expected to decide his future before returning to pre-season preparations training.
Some players are expected to return to pre-season training on June 26, however it remains to be seen if Engels is among the group.
International players – even if they are not involved at the World Cup – are expected to return at a later date. Engels was not called up for the tournament, and has not been capped since 2024 – when he started the Nations League defeat to Israel.
After winning the Scottish Cup to round off a double-winning season, Engels was non-committal about his Celtic future.
He said: “Yeah we will see. I still have a contract so we will see what happens. Firstly, I want to thank all the fans. They are just amazing.
“They helped us throughout all the season and to be there they have helped us to get the double. In the end we will see what happens in the summer.
“I am really happy here at Celtic. It’s an unbelievable club. I’m really proud to represent Celtic.”
