Doug King says he is “fully behind Frank Lampard to go all the way” as Coventry City prepare for the rollercoaster that might come with a first year back in the Premier League.
Coventry had a reminder of what the top flight will throw at them when fixtures were released on Friday morning: their first two away trips will be to Arsenal and Manchester City.
But owner King talks about his relationship with manager Lampard and the processes the club have in place when he is asked about sticking together through any tough times ahead.
That comes amid reports that Lampard, aged 47, is close to signing a new long-term deal at the CBS Arena.

“I’ve always been much more about process and how and what we’re doing,” said King in an interview with TalkSport. “If that all sticks and we get some tough runs I’m very calm with that. It’s when the process breaks down and things get a little out of control and then you have to try to change those things.
“We’ve worked together for 18 months, we know how each other works. We have a good direct relationship, we can challenge whatever we want to challenge and I’m fully behind him to go all the way. We’ll take what comes and he’s got all the tools to react and to drive us and hopefully have a successful first season.”
He added: “We’ve had a great 18 months with Frank. Obviously, people have taken notice of what he’s done and how he’s led us to be champions. We know how it works in football, everybody’s got an opinion and everybody seems to want to do different things.
“I think that we have a good thing here and he’s earned the right to get us into the Premier League for the first time and that’s what we wanted to do.”
