Forensic teams and police officers have been combing a property in Castleman Smith Close, Blandford Forum, for more than 24 hours.

Residents say they have been left in the dark since officers arrived on Friday, June 19.

It comes after four people, including a 20-year-old man from Blandford, were arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of 18-year-old Kyron Wheeler, who was allegedly stabbed.

He died in Poole Hospital after sustaining a suspected stab wound.

It is understood he was injured in Dale Close, Poole, before being taken to Longfleet Road outside the hospital.

Dorset Police has now confirmed that the activity in Blandford is part of the same inquiry.

A spokesperson said officers were “carrying out searches at an address in Castleman Smith Close in Blandford in connection to the Poole murder investigation”.

Parents living on the close described feeling anxious as uniformed officers and specialist teams remained at the scene.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “We’ve been a bit concerned, because we’ve got children.

“They’re obviously concerned why there’s been so many police hanging around, but we’ve just been told there’s nothing to worry about.”

She added that she felt “unsafe” and apprehensive as the police presence continued outside the house.

Another neighbour said she was “a little bit freaked out” and had not left her home since officers arrived, as she was worried about her own safety.

Residents said they did not know who lived at the property being searched but described Castleman Smith Close as normally a quiet and friendly street.

Ian Dawe, who was working outside his home when the Echo visited, said: “Nobody knows anything.”

He said that on Friday evening he saw two armed response vehicles arrive in unmarked cars, adding: “At the end of the day, if there was anything to worry about, then surely they’d tell us.”

His father, Ron, said he had seen police in the street before but “not for the amount this time – this is different altogether”.

Dorset Police said the investigation into Kyron’s death remains ongoing.

No-one has been charged at this stage and detectives are continuing to appeal for information.
