Jamie Carragher is enjoying time away from football punditry after the Premier League season concluded in May. The former Liverpool defender has been spending time with his family and was spotted at Ascot Racecourse on Thursday with wife, Nicola Carragher.
Carragher was pictured wearing a tailored suit and a black top-hat for the occasion and Nicola wore a stunning coral-coloured dress with a matching hat and sunglasses. After a day at the races, Carragher shared a picture of the two to his Instagram page.
He captioned a post: “Great day at Ascot with Nicola, but the top hat will not be getting worn around Bootle!” Nicola also shared her thoughts about her first experience of Ascot races.
Sharing a selection of photographs to Instagram, Nicola said: “The most amazing day and first time at Ascot. We had so much fun and we loved meeting lots of lovely people and chatting, looking at everyone’s fabulous outfits and drinking rose all day.”
Carragher spoke to Sky Sports about England’s World Cup campaign and the upcoming Premier League season when he arrived at the racecourse earlier this week.
Speaking about new Liverpool boss Iraola, the Liverpool legend said: “Listen, he’s done an amazing job since he’s come into the Premier League to Bournemouth and I don’t think anyone doesn’t watch them and isn’t excited when they watch them.

“Or if I’ve got a game for Sky and it’s Bournemouth, I think ‘OK, I’ll look forward to that’ it’s that all-action style, probably a little bit what we saw from England (against Croatia on Wednesday night), really aggressive, getting the ball forward really early.
“It’s maybe a bit of a throwback to Jurgen Klopp’s days at Liverpool and a slightly different style than Arne Slot.”
He added: “But as I say, I always want to say this with any Liverpool manager and yes, Arne Slot got a lot of criticism last season and I can’t argue and I don’t think he can too much with the change because it was so poor last season.”
Reflecting on England’s first game and their chances to go all the way in the competition, Carragher believes the team are lacking something defensively to lift the World Cup this year, but admitted it is “ok to dream” and keep faith.
The Carragher family has had a lot to celebrate in recent months. They often speak about the achievements of their son James and daughter Mia. Nicola praised Mia when she landed a lead role in The Hunger Games on stage and James when he returned to football action for Wigan after a knee injury.
Nicola previously said: “Watching my girl who is an absolute superstar in the evening, like I have no words. Knowing my boy came on in the day after two months out recovering from injury and operation. You both will always be the greatest thing I have ever done in my life, my heart can’t deal.”
