Wolves sporting director Matt Jackson has travelled to Portugal to meet new head coach Cesar Peixoto and map out plans for next season.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, transfer strategy has featured in discussions, with Peixoto tasked with leading an immediate return to the Premier League. Rob Edwards had been central to previous window planning and the extent of any shift after last week’s change remains unclear, while Jorge Mendes is expected to be influential after brokering Peixoto’s arrival.

Suggestions of a move for Famalicao right-back Rodrigo Pinheiro are understood to be wide of the mark.

Peixoto returned to Portugal after signing a two-year deal to replace Edwards at the end of last week and is awaiting a work permit before officially starting at Compton Park. With pre-season viewed as crucial, he wants as much in place as possible.

Talks with senior players are planned before the squad returns to Compton Park in early July. Among those with decisions pending is striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who has one year left on his contract after only two league starts in four injury-hit years and a loan at LASK last season. He is looking forward to discussions, says he would give everything if he stays and feels there may be unfinished business, with summer talks to determine what suits both sides.
