Jota Silva says he is hopeful Vitor Pereira’s arrival could revive his Nottingham Forest prospects after a season on loan at Besiktas, adding: “I hope so.”

“Vítor Pereira did a phenomenal job by securing Nottingham Forest’s survival with two or three games still left to play. He did it after taking over a team in a very difficult situation,” he told Record.

“From what I hear from my teammates, he managed to win over the group. The squad really likes the way the manager works and feels happy because they are playing attractive and exciting football. The performances have also been accompanied by results.”

A deadline-day switch to Sporting Lisbon collapsed last summer, after which the Portuguese winger joined Besiktas on a season-long loan that included an option to buy. The Turkish side have not taken that up. “I will report for duty and do everything possible to have a great season individually and collectively, whether at Nottingham or another club I represent.”

Appointed in February, Pereira guided Forest to safety and has underlined the importance of pre-season. Whether his plans include Jota remains to be seen.

Jota joined from Vitoria Guimaraes in summer 2024 and scored four goals in his first year at the City Ground but struggled to secure a starting spot. He called it “a season of learning” and said “collectively, I believe we could have done more”, adding that players must “go onto the pitch focused” to “solve problems and achieve objectives”.
