Police have confirmed they found a body at a busy park in Nottingham.

Officers were called to the Forest Recreation Ground off Mansfield Road at 6.13am on Tuesday, June 16, following reports of a man’s sudden death.

Nottinghamshire Police said the male, who was in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force, which had cordoned off part of the Forest Recreation Ground off Noel Street on Tuesday morning while forensics officers investigated the scene, said it did not believe the death was suspicious and explained it would prepare a file for the coroner as a result.

Detective Inspector Lisa Jones said: “Officers were called to the Forest Recreation Ground, Mansfield Road, Nottingham, at 6.13am on Tuesday (June, 16) following reports of man’s sudden death.

“Despite the best efforts of first responders, the man, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

When the Nottingham Post visited the scene of the death on Tuesday afternoon officers had left the area, with a piece of torn police tape attached to a fence being the only sign of the incident.

Objects had also been discarded around the 7th Nottingham Scouts’ hut, but it not clear if this is related to the death.
