England winger Bukayo Saka has insisted that he and his club teammates will arrive at the World Cup with a new “freedom” after winning the Premier League title.
The Gunners’ have a four-strong contingent in the Three Lions camp – Saka, Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke. They joined up late with Thomas Tuchel’s squad following their Champions League final defeat.
“I’d say it was an amazing feeling winning the Premier League,” reflected Saka. “Obviously, with the Champions League, it was important not to let that loss allow us to forget what we’d achieved as a club.
“Now I’m here with England at the World Cup and that’s all the focus is on, trying to win the World Cup and get a second start for the country.”
Asked if finally getting across the line in the Premier League title race will benefit both him and his teammates, the 24-year-old insisted: “100%. I think for myself and the other boys that came from Arsenal, we have a confidence and a freedom that we can approach the World Cup with.
“I think that will definitely improve us and make us play better.”
Saka continued: “I think with each tournament it was a different lesson, especially reaching two finals. I think it’s mainly the belief.
“When I look around in the team, I see the talent we have, the passion, the confidence. We have some real winners, some real leaders. With belief, I think we can go to the next step.”
