According to ExpressAndStar.com, Kieran Trippier has completed his Wolves medical ahead of becoming the club’s first summer signing.
Talks with the former England international began last month after it was announced he would leave Newcastle when his contract expired. Head coach Rob Edwards and chairman Nathan Shi were heavily involved in the talks, with Trippier agreeing a two-year deal that includes an option for a third season.
The right-back, who turns 36 in September, is now set to be unveiled as a Wolves player.
Wolves are moving early as they look to push for promotion next season, with Trippier’s arrival following a new deal for Andre.
The club are also working to finalise the free signing of Raul Jimenez this week, and all three are expected to be on substantial wages for the Championship.
Jackson Tchatchoua and Ki-Jana Hoever are expected to depart this summer. Rodrigo Gomes is likely to feature further forward, leaving Trippier likely to compete with Pedro Lima for the right-back spot.
