Mohamed Salah reportedly has three demands when selecting his next club following his Liverpool exit. The Egyptian star will have no shortage of suitors for his signature and is set to be picky.
Salah confirmed that he would leave Anfield in March, despite having a further year to run on his contract. Less than 12 months after extending his deal by two years, the veteran star announced he would bring an end to his nine-year stint on Merseyside at the close of the 2024/25 season.
The 33-year-old heads to this summer’s World Cup without a club to play for next season, though it has been widely speculated he could head to the Saudi Pro League. Liverpool and Salah previously rejected mega-money moves to the Middle East, including a £150million bid in 2023.

And it appears earlier moves for his signature are setting the tone for his demands this summer. According to reports in the region, Salah wants to receive a financial package that reflects his market value and has already knocked back one offer from the Saudi Pro League that was worth less than what he was pitched before renewing his Liverpool contract.
The Premier League icon also wants to sign a contract of up to three years to provide some stability over his future at the latter end of his career. And crucially, he also wants to join a team that can challenge for major titles; he does not want to simply participate in a new league.
Salah’s Liverpool career appeared to come to an end, in part, due to a difficult relationship with Arne Slot. The attacker publicly criticised his head coach on more than one occasion as he endured a reduced role at Anfield.

Even following his final outing, Salah could not resist a dig towards Slot as he explained what he wanted to see at Anfield following a difficult season. Taking to social media, he pointed to the identity shaped under Jurgen Klopp
“I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear, and back to being a team that wins trophies,” he wrote. “That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good.
“It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it. Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.”
Salah looks set to have been granted his wish, after Slot was given his marching orders less than a week following the end of the season. The club said: “The conclusion we have come to is built on a belief that the team’s trajectory is best addressed through a change of direction.”
The Dutchman was replaced by Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, who set out his stall upon taking the job. The Spaniard outlined that he wanted to bring ‘the intensity, the aggressiveness, the organisation’ from his previous role.
