Everton and Nottingham Forest will be two of 11 Premier League clubs not playing European football next season.

The Reds got to the semi-final of the Europa League before succumbing to Aston Villa, and that means no return to Europe next season for Forest.

Will Evangelos Marinakis part with the money for Hayden Hackney?

Is he capable of replacing Elliot Anderson at the City Ground?

With that in mind, Everton and Forest might be competing for similar players in the transfer market as both David Moyes and Vitor Pereira look to complete some business.

Everton had looked well set to add to their squad with the signing of a top EFL talent and now a window of opportunity might have swung for Forest.

After it was claimed Forest’s interest in Hackney wasn’t strong this summer, it would appear as though the Reds are monitoring things once again.

According to the I Paper, Forest are now back in the mix after Middlesbrough laughed off the £10 million bid made by Everton to try and sign the player.

Hackney only has a year to run on his existing Boro deal, but with Forest, Everton, Leeds and even Manchester United watching things closely, the Championship club still want £20 million as a minimum.

It has been previously claimed that Hackney wants to sign for Everton, but unless the Toffees get serious in their quest to get him, a move to Merseyside could be off the table.

Who is your ‘hear me out’ signing for Nottingham Forest to make this summer?! 👀🤔

Forest will likely be in the market for another midfielder, with Elliot Anderson wanted by Manchester City and bids of £115 million likely to seal his exit.

Hackney might not be a like-for-like replacement for the Geordie Maradona, but he does look like a player with a very bright future ahead of him, and Forest fans would likely welcome his arrival.
