Nottingham Forest are closing in on their first transfer of the window, according to a report in Italy.

Website Siamolaroma claim the Reds are ‘willing to put on the table’ a €20m bid for Jan Ziolkowski who has spent less than 12 months with Roma. They say the deal is ‘close’

The Polish defender joined the Serie A outfit from Legia Warsaw last August, in a deal reported to be worth €6m but after just 23 appearances his fee could be set to more than triple.

The report claims the 21-year-old is ‘highly sought’ by Forest as they look to add to Vitor Pereira’s squad. It also claims Forest will meet with his agents ‘in the coming hours’, with Roma keen to get a deal done before June 30.

Ziolkowski came through at Legia and only really had one season in the senior team before Roma made their move.

Last term he played in Serie A, the Europa League and also won his first three international caps.

Forest do have options at centre back with Murillo having recently signed a new long-term contract and Nikola Milenkovic his regular partner. Morato also played a lot last season. Forest have also been linked with Belgium international Arthur Theate.
