Rangers have not given up hope of signing Joe Gelhardt this summer despite the Leeds United striker preferring a transfer to Hull City.
The Light Blues have bolstered their attack with the addition of Lawrence Shankland from Hearts, although the summer transfer window does not open until 15 June.
With the Scot’s addition, Danny Rohl now has five strikers in his ranks, but that is expected to change soon, as Danilo will be told to find a new club.
Bojan Miovski also faces an uncertain future at Rangers following Shankland’s arrival, while Youssef Chermiti is attracting interest from Galatasaray.

With Rohl‘s options up front likely to undergo more changes in the coming weeks, Rangers have set their sights on a potential deal for Gelhardt.
According to Alan Nixon, the Ibrox outfit have ‘been looking at a move’ for the 24-year-old, but are currently behind Hull City in the race.
Reporting via his Patreon, the journalist noted that the Tigers have a better chance of snapping Gelhardt up, having just secured promotion to the Premier League.
However, that does not mean Rangers are out of the race yet, as the decision will ultimately fall on the Liverpool-born forward.
Guarantees about playing time and potential to compete for trophies are likely to play a key role in his decision-making process.
With a key decision regarding his career yet to be taken, Gelhardt is set to have talks with Leeds United over his future.
The Whites are prepared to part ways with the Englishman, who has one more year remaining on his current deal at Elland Road.
Which of these strikers are Rangers expected to sell?
Lawrence Shankland’s arrival will surely change things!
Gelhardt is a wanted man
Gelhardt spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Hull, bagging 15 goals and six assists in 44 appearances across all competitions and helping them earn promotion as the Championship play-off winners.
That is why he is tempted by the possibility of returning to the MKM Stadium on a permanent deal.
However, with the Tigers now in the Premier League, they might be tempted to bring in an update on the Leeds United loanee.
As for Rangers, they will be hoping that their connection to Leeds United through 49ers Enterprises helps them strike a deal for the striker.
That, though, would not be enough, as Gelhardt would then have to agree to move to Ibrox.
