Announcing the death of a loved one in the local press is a long-standing tradition and we are proud of the trust placed in us to make these important announcements. Every day the ECHO print edition carries tributes and funeral notices for those who have lost a loved one recently and our condolences go out to all.

It gives people a chance to celebrate the lives of loved ones and pay respects to the health and care teams who looked after them. The announcements also often share information regarding funerals, fundraising and flowers.

Catherine Bingley

(Cathy) With much sadness and regret, the family of the late Cathy Bingley would like to announce her passing and the details of her funeral arrangements. Catherine Bingley, fondly known as Cathy, came into this world on February 3, 1949, and sadly left us at Whiston Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family, on May 11, 2026, at the age of 77. Cathy is now reunited with her loving husband, Harold. She was a much-loved Mum to Mark and his partner, Chelsea, and a devoted Nan to Amelia and Harper. For 35 years, Cathy dedicated herself to the Malvern Playgroup, where many people will remember her as the kind person with a big heart, always ready to lend a hand and share her time with everyone. Mum, our hearts are broken, but we will always carry a piece of you with us. We will always remember you, and we will always love you. The funeral service will take place at 11am on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at St Philemon’s Church, Admiral Street, L8, followed by a cremation at Springwood. Mary Joan Duffin

Catherine Evans

(née Irving) 20 April 1933 – 17 May 2026 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our very precious mum, Catherine Evans, aged 93 on 17 May 2026. Catherine (Kitty) lived in St Oswald’s Gardens, Old Swan, growing up. She was the daughter of the late Alexander (Sandy) and Elizabeth Irving. After marrying our dad, Ken they lived in Halsbury Road, Kensington and later moved to Roby. Very much cherished mum of Valerie and Nancy, mother-in law to Martin and Phil and grandma to Daniel, Neil, Harvey and Charlotte. Great-grandma to Grace and Leighton. Catherine came from a family of 10 children – the late Alexander (Sandy), John, Stevie, Eileen, Mary and Christina. She is survived by her brother Eddie and sisters Pat and Betty. Re-united now into the loving arms of our dad and devoted husband Kenneth. Our lives will never be the same without such a wonderful, kind hearted, gentle and selfless person. We will miss you each and every day but you will live on in our hearts. A committal service will be held at Greenacres, Blindfoot Lane, Rainford on 11 June 2026 at 10.00 am. Passed away peacefully on 14th May 2026 aged 83 years at Aintree Hospital.
