Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on several transfer targets who’ll be featuring at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The summer showpiece is now just four days away, with all 48 competing nations having confirmed their 26-man squads for the tournament.
The quadrennial competition not only highlights the world’s finest footballers but also provides a platform for emerging talents to secure major moves based on their displays at the sport’s grandest stage.
The Reds find themselves in a position where they can both entice elite players while offering a framework in which promising prospects can flourish and develop their footballing capabilities.
With alterations expected to Liverpool’s squad composition, one major change has already been set in motion following Arne Slot’s dismissal. Departing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is the clear favourite to succeed the Dutchman and has already agreed personal terms with the Reds, according to The Athletic.
The Spaniard’s dynamic and attacking approach represents a marked departure from Slot’s possession-oriented philosophy. The 43-year-old will be hoping sufficient funds are made available to reshape the current Liverpool squad in his vision, with the World Cup offering an ideal opportunity to identify players who’ll suit his revamped side.
