Tottenham supporters may be feeling slightly uneasy that the club have been close to wrapping up the signings of two free transfers for days, if not weeks, yet neither has been confirmed yet.

Spurs agreed deals in principle for both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi before the 2025/26 Premier League season ended, although both moves were contingent on Tottenham remaining in the top flight.

Once that was confirmed, with a 1-0 win over Everton on the final day of the season, it looked a foregone conclusion that the two transfers would be completed and Roberto De Zerbi would have his first two new faces at the club.

Konate departure led to nervousness over Senesi

However, no official unveilings have yet happened, with Robertson now out in America with Scotland for the World Cup and Senesi seemingly on holiday after a long season with the Cherries.

There was talk, towards the end of the season, that Liverpool might make a move to hijack Spurs’ deal for ‘elite market opportunity’ Senesi, depending on what happened with Ibrahima Konate. Konate has since confirmed he is leaving the Reds, now his contract is up, which would have concerned Tottenham fans further.

Add to the fact that Arne Slot was sacked and his replacement at Anfield is going to be Andoni Iraola – Senesi’s manager at Bournemouth – and there are growing concerns that there might be a change of heart, both from Liverpool and Senesi.

But GIVEMESPORT senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs has allayed any fears Spurs fans might have. Jacobs was asked about the Senesi deal during the Market Madness podcast on Wednesday evening and said that it was a “done deal” as much as it can be without being confirmed.

Senesi and Robertson to Tottenham are done deals

He went further and said: “It’s basically all agreed with Tottenham, that’s where we stand now. Spurs will obviously want to get everything signed and unveiled and announced as quickly as possible to avoid any surprises and was anything late, late late [in terms of a] hijack to change, I’ll let you know, but those close to Senesi insist they have given their word to Tottenham.”

The same can be said of Robertson, who had agreed to join Spurs all the way back in January, only for his move to be called off because the Reds could not bring in a replacement.

Jacobs added on the Scot: “Tottenham faced a slight late nervous wait after they stayed up as Juventus tried to make an approach, but Robertson is not just a fantastic footballer, he’s a tremendous character and he wanted his future clarified before the World Cup, he gave his word to Tottenham and he’s kept it, so that one can be considered a done deal as well.”
