Nottingham Forest have reportedly turned down Manchester City’s initial approach for midfielder Elliot Anderson, with the Premier League club demanding a significant fee before entering any negotiations.
Manchester City are said to have identified the 23-year-old as a key target as they look to strengthen and refresh their midfield options.
The club reportedly views Anderson as a versatile midfielder capable of adapting to Pep Guardiola’s tactical system, with strong energy and all-round technical ability.
However, Forest have made it clear they are not under pressure to sell and consider Anderson an important part of their long-term plans under manager Vitor Pereira.
According to reports, the initial approach from City was firmly rejected, with Forest insisting that any potential deal would require a substantial offer that reflects the player’s value.
The club is understood to have taken a firm stance as part of a broader strategy to resist interest from wealthier clubs unless their valuation is fully met.
Anderson’s reputation has risen sharply since joining Forest, where he has become a regular starter and one of the team’s most consistent performers.
He featured in all 38 Premier League matches in the 2025–26 season, starting 37 of them, highlighting his importance to the squad.
The midfielder’s performances have also earned him international recognition, with a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester City are believed to view him as a long-term midfield option rather than a short-term signing, but negotiations are expected to remain difficult unless Forest soften their stance.
