Earlier this week at Brentford School for Girls students took part in a purposeful day of careers education and future planning, with activities designed to broaden horizons beyond the classroom. Through Navy Leadership Training and a Year 12 UCAS trip, students explored their next steps, built confidence and gained valuable insight into life beyond school. The day reflected the values of the Brentford girl, including high aspiration, resilience, leadership and a determination to make the most of every opportunity.
As the head of Careers said, “Events like these help young women recognise their strengths, raise their aspirations and consider the many pathways open to them. They are an important part of ensuring students leave Brentford with the confidence, skills and ambition to succeed in the future.”

The Navy Leadership Training gave students the opportunity to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication and decision-making under pressure. Through a series of practical activities, they built confidence, showed initiative and demonstrated the resilience and leadership that sit at the heart of the Brentford girl values.
Mr May, Assistant Head of Brentford School for Girls, shared his enthusiasm for the programme: ‘‘Our students gained so much from this experience. It wasn’t just about learning skills—it was about showing them what is possible when you work collaboratively and communicate effectively. The confidence they’ve come away with is remarkable. We are keen to give our current and future student leaders the opportunity to develop in line with our school vision and thank the Navy for their help.’’
Meanwhile, Year 12 students took part in a dedicated UCAS trip, giving them the opportunity to explore higher education pathways and consider their next steps with increased confidence. The visit provided a clear introduction to university options, the application process and day-to-day campus life. By speaking directly with university representatives, students were able to ask thoughtful questions and gather the information they needed to make well-informed decisions about their future. The visit also reflected Brentford School for Girls’ commitment to high aspiration and to developing the broader skills young women need to thrive in higher education and beyond.
The head of Careers added, “At Brentford, careers education is about helping every student see what is possible. Opportunities like these build confidence, broaden horizons and support young women to make informed choices about their future with ambition, resilience and purpose.”
The school also looks forward to welcoming families and the local community to its Arts Festival on Thursday 25th June 2026, from 5.00pm to 7.30pm. For further information, prospective parents and visitors can contact the school at general@brentford.hounslow.sch.uk or on 020 8583 2711.
Whether taking on leadership challenges or exploring university pathways, students at Brentford School for Girls continue to demonstrate ambition, confidence and determination. These experiences reflect the school’s commitment to high aspiration and to developing the wider skills young women need to succeed in a changing world.
