New Zealand were dealt a reality check ahead of the World Cup as Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood sent a warning to his teammates.
The All Whites were taking on Haiti in a World Cup warm-up match, with their final test coming against England – and Elliot Anderson – on Saturday evening.
🤝Who should be the FIRST player sold by Nottingham Forest this summer?
Wood’s team were thrashed 4-0 by the minnows, and that represents a real setback for New Zealand ahead of the tournament getting underway.
New Zealand will face Iran, Egypt and Belgium at the World Cup and ahead of this weekend’s final warm-up game with England, Wood has sent a warning to his teammates.

Forest star Wood is a proud man, and his 89th cap, which he collected last night, makes him the all-time appearance holder for his country.
Wood feels his teammates weren’t at the races and has urged them to stay positive ahead of tougher tests.
He told The Post: “It’s not what we came here for. We’re nowhere near where we wanted to be. We’ve got an awful lot of work to do in a short space of time.
“It’s time for us to show our character and bounce back. It’s disappointing. There’s no getting away from it. We weren’t good enough.”
Fill in the blank: Jean Philippe Mateta would be a __/10 summer signing…🤔
The Crystal Palace striker is linked with Forest again!
Haiti won the game after goals from Ruben Providence, Lenny Joseph, Frantzdy Pierrot and Duke Lacroix, and they will gain a big boost from their result.
Wood will be delighted to simply be at the World Cup after fighting back from a serious knee injury, which robbed him of six months of the 2025/26 campaign.
Now, the Forest striker will hope to start firing again as they play England in Tampa Bay on Saturday before the proper stuff gets underway.
