No sooner has the Premier League season drawn to a conclusion than attention has already turned to another major football competition with plenty of Everton interest.
The World Cup officially gets underway in Mexico, the USA and Canada on June 11, and international squads have already started to arrive in North America as preparations begin.
Everton will be represented by four players on the world’s greatest stage and that quartet now know which shirt numbers they will be wearing for the tournament.
England will be hoping to win their first World Cup since 1966, and they will attempt to do just that with Blues goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in between the sticks. Pickford is considered to be Tuchel’s first-choice keeper for the tournament and has been awarded the No.1 shirt as a result.
Scotland are competing at their first World Cup since 1998 and will be represented by Everton defender Nathan Patterson, who is appearing at his second senior major international tournament after missing Euro 2024 through injury. The 24-year-old will be wearing No. 22 for Steve Clarke’s side.
Midfielder Idrissa Gueye has been selected for Senegal, having first appeared at the World Cup in Russia in 2018. Gueye has been given the No.5 shirt by head coach Pape Thiaw. He will be joined by fellow Everton star Iliman Ndiaye who is set to play in his second World Cup after starring in 2022. Unlucky for some, Ndiaye will wear No. 13 for Senegal.
