The 31 year old will join teammate Ross Stewart at the tournament after Canada boss Jesse Marsch confirmed his final selection for the competition.

Larin scored eight goals in 16 Championship appearances, despite starting only nine matches, to become one of the most effective attacking players.

He had set his sights on a special call-up this summer, as Canada are co-hosting the World Cup alongside the United States and Mexico.

Canada will play all three of their group-stage matches on home soil as they look to progress beyond the first round for the first time in their history.

Larin heads into the tournament as one of Canada’s most experienced players, having scored 30 goals in 88 appearances for his country since 2014.

His inclusion means Saints will have at least two representatives at this summer’s World Cup, with Stewart ending a four-year Scotland absence.

Canada have been drawn in Group B and begin their campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, June 12 (8pm) at Toronto Stadium.

They then face Qatar on Thursday, June 18 (11pm), and Switzerland on Wednesday, June 24 (8pm), looking to make history for the first time.

Larin is set to return to RCD Mallorca in July as his deal at Saints reportedly included a ÂŁ3.4million obligation to buy him in the event of promotion.

However, due to Larin’s impressive performances at St Mary’s, many supporters are hoping the club can strike a deal to keep him permanently.
