Jamie Leweling has scored 11 goals and 12 assists this season.

The forward has been called up for Germany’s World Cup squad.

VfB Stuttgart rejected a a €40m bid from Bournemouth in winter window.

Everton are looking to strengthen their attack this summer with new additions.

The latest name on the list is VfB Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling, who is having a sensational season in the Bundesliga. According to Sky Deutschland, Everton and AFC Bournemouth are both keen on bringing him to the Premier League. AS Roma are also interested.

Price tag and Bournemouth’s rejected bid

Leweling joined Stuttgart on loan from Union Berlin in July 2023. He made the move permanent a year later. The 24-year-old’s numbers this season are impressive. In 49 matches across all competitions, he has 11 goals and 12 assists.

In the Bundesliga alone, he has made 32 appearances with 26 starts, playing 2,375 minutes. He has been able to score seven goals, nine assists and create ten big chances. He has been named in the Team of the Week three times.

Bournemouth tried to sign him in the winter window. They made a €40m bid. Stuttgart turned it down. The German club now expects around £43m to accept an offer. That is a hefty price, but Leweling has justified his value with a strong season.

His impressive season has led to a call-up to Germany’s World Cup squad as well. He made his debut for the national team on 14 October 2024 against the Netherlands and scored a goal. Since then, he has four caps and one goal so far. How he fares in the World Cup will only add to his price tag over the summer. The transfer battle and the negotiation is expected to be brutal for the German international.

Roma’s interest and the Friedkin connection

AS Roma are also interested in Leweling. The interesting part? Roma shares the same ownership as Everton. Both clubs are owned by The Friedkin Group. That could make for an interesting battle. Will the Friedkins push him to Everton or Roma? Either way, the player will have options.

Leweling’s style of play suits the Premier League. He likes to play short passes, shoot from distance, and cross. He is a direct, attacking player who can play on the wing or as a forward. Everton needs more creativity and goals from wide areas, as they had problems of their own around the end of the campaign. Leweling would add quality and depth to Moyes’ squad if they are able to sign him.

The £43m price tag is definitely not small, but Everton have shown they are willing to spend for the right player. Everton missed Europe with a disappointing run of games towards the end, with no wins in six consecutive games, but the pull of the Premier League can still make a move possible.

Bournemouth will push hard, but it isn’t certain that they will come again for the forward after seeing a bid rejected in the winter. Their European qualification gives them an advantage as well. Roma, meanwhile, will be there too. But Everton can offer him a clear pathway to regular minutes and a manager who improves players; they can have a chance.

The summer window will be interesting. Leweling is one to watch.
