The winger’s fine finish against Middlesbrough – set up by a brilliant back-heel from Ivan Azon – was one of four strikes nominated for the prize .

Coventry’s Frank Onyeka (v Derby County), Charlton’s Charlie Kelman (v Hull) and Oxford’s Will Lankshear (v Sheffield Wednesday) also made the shortlist.

In the end, Kelman won the award for his stunning curling effort, which helped the Addicks secure survival in the Championship.

“It could be the goal that rubberstamps Charlton’s survival!” 🚀

Kelman said: “I’m buzzing and I’m thankful to everyone who voted for me to win this award. It’s probably my favourite goal of my career so far given how the atmosphere was with The Valley rocking and the pressure on the game for both teams.”

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman added: “Safe to say Charlie Kelman had a lot to do after a lung busting run into the left channel and being surrounded by defenders!!

“He somehow though, managed to manipulate some space and curled an absolute beauty into the far top corner.”

Huddersfield’s Ryan Ledson (v Wycombe) and Shrewsbury’s Ismeal Kabia (v Fleetwood) won the awards in League One and League Two respectively.
