Nottingham Forest can start planning for next season after securing survival with a 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

The Reds claimed that point hours before Arsenal beat West Ham to leave them needing snookers to reach Forest’s points total for this season.

Evangelos Marinakis will know that a big summer is in store on the recruitment front, with Edu set to leave and a vast interest in a wealth of the club’s top players.

Now, with the season drawing to a close, it’s emerged that one player is going to be returning to Forest this summer.

Silva moved to Besiktas on the back of a wave of new wingers signing for the club last summer, but his time in Turkey could be up.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Silva is going to return to Forest with Besiktas not willing to sign him permanently this summer.

Silva has scored four goals and claimed one assist in 21 appearances for his loan club, but he’s found it hard to come by a starting spot in the eleven.

Could he be any worse than our other wingers this season?

Now, with Pereira in place at the club, the Portuguese performer might see this as a clean slate for him at Forest.

Silva struggled to start games during the 2024/25 campaign when Forest qualified for Europe, but he might fancy a fresh chance at the Reds in pre-season.

That said, Nuno Espirito Santo drew praise from Silva for helping him settle and he might fancy another crack at Forest.

There is a player in there, and given the work that Pereira has already done with the fringe players at the club, there might be hope for Silva.

It will likely depend on what business Forest can get done in the transfer market, but if Silva does stick around on Trentside, he will be determined to grasp his second opportunity with both hands.
