Last month, Frank Lampard was in attendance for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Lampard watched Chelsea fall to a 3-0 defeat against City, with that being Liam Rosenior’s penultimate home game in charge.

The 41-year-old was eventually sacked, leaving the Blues looking for a new manager. However, his successor is unlikely to be Lampard.

While the Coventry City boss was spotted at Stamford Bridge for the City game, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that he was only there to conduct transfer business.

According to Phillips, there are Chelsea players Lampard is interested in following Coventry’s promotion to the Premier League.

The ex-midfielder is also said to be keen on some former Chelsea stars he used to manage. While a transfer seems highly unlikely, Coventry could make an ambitious swoop for Mason Mount.

Lampard may not be in contention for the Chelsea job, but another former midfielder who used to play for the Blues is.

Fabregas is believed to be one managerial target for Chelsea right now after impressing at Serie A side Como. The 39-year-old, Xabi Alonso and Andoni Iraola appear to be the three frontrunners for the position and more likely to succeed Rosenior in the Stamford Bridge dugout than Lampard.
