It will be a nail-biting last few games of the 2025/26 season for both Arsenal and Manchester City, with the Premier League title going down to the wire. The Gunners secured a vital three points thanks to a 1-0 win over West Ham United, after late VAR drama.
Man City’s 3-0 win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon closed the gap on Arsenal at the top of the table to just two points, with the Gunners having a better goal difference of just one goal.
Arsenal looked to bounce back when they took on West Ham at the London Stadium just under 24 hours later. Mikel Arteta ’s side were frustrated by the Hammers, who are fighting for Premier League survival.

Entering the closing stages of the game, Arsenal had David Raya to thank for keeping them level after saving from Mateus Fernandez. That proved to be even more valuable when Leandro Trossard scored a crucial goal in the 83rd minute.
There was still drama at the end of the game, when West Ham thought that they had equalised deep into added time. But a VAR review concluded that Raya was fouled in the build-up, with the goal ruled out.
The win put Arsenal five points clear of their rivals, ahead of City’s game in hand this week. It means that their fate remains in their own hands.
There could yet be a few more twists and turns in the race as the end of the season draws ever closer. With that in mind, here’s a look at what lies ahead for both teams.
Arsenal
Vs Burnley (H) – Mon 18 May (8pm)
Vs Crystal Palace (A) – Sun 24 May (4pm)
Arsenal should expect to beat Burnley at the Emirates Stadium with the Clarets’ relegation to the Championship already confirmed.
A game at Selhurst Park is never easy, but Arsenal may be helped by the Eagles’ progression to the UEFA Conference League final. That match takes place just days after the clash against Arsenal, meaning that Palace could make changes with an eye on European silverware.

Man City
Vs Crystal Palace (H) – Wed 13 May (8pm)
Vs Bournemouth (A) – Tues 19 May (7.30pm)
Vs Aston Villa (H) – Sun 24 May (4pm)
City’s game in hand comes in just a few days as they host Palace, it’s a game where Guardiola’s side would expect to take three points at home. The biggest challenge probably comes in the away trip to Bournemouth, who themselves are looking to secure European football next season.
Like Arsenal, City face a team in a European final on the last day of the season, but Villa’s final comes before the match at the Etihad Stadium. Tiredness could therefore have an impact.
