Unai Emery has made three changes from the side that dismantled Nottingham Forest 4-0 in the Europa League semi-final

Victor Lindelöf keeps his place in midfield

Burnley have made six changes

Unai Emery makes three changes to his starting XI today, but the big news is in the middle of the park. After a masterclass performance mid-week, Victor Lindelöf keeps his spot in midfield as Emery rewards his superb form.

The Villans enjoyed their best performance of the season on Thursday night, when they overcame a one-goal deficit in the first leg to win 4-0 against Nottingham Forest to send them to their first European final in 44 years.

It was an all-round fantastic team display, with every player playing their part in an incredible victory.

Now, they turn their attention back to the Premier League with a focus on securing their place in the Champions League next season. A win will strengthen their chances, but will not confirm it.

Emery has made three changes to his side with Tyrone Mings, Ian Maatsen and Ross Barkley coming in.

Changed back four

In the back four, Pau Torres has dropped to the bench, with Tyrone Mings replacing him. It’s just his third start in the league in over a month.

Ian Maatsen is named ahead of Lucas Digne in the ever-changing left-back position. The Dutchman will be hoping to improve drastically from his very disappointing performance against Tottenham last weekend.

Meanwhile, both Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash keep their place.

Lindelöf and Barkley start

A slight surprise is that Victor Lindelöf partners Youri Tielemans once again in midfield, making just his second ever start in the position for Villa. It’s a testament to his outstanding display in midweek, where he didn’t look out of place for one minute.

In attack, Ross Barkley makes his sixth start in the last seven league games in the No 10 spot. Whilst Morgan Rogers moves to the left-hand side.

John McGinn remains on the right after his two goals on Thursday night sent Villa well on their way to Istanbul. The captain was excellent in every department as he set the standard for the rest of his team.

Finally, Ollie Watkins leads the line, hoping to add more goals to his tally of 16 in all competitions, as he closes in on twenty for the season.
