The 30-year-old forward joined Danny Scopes’ side from fellow Essex non-league outfit Maldon & Tiptree in February after playing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Zimbabwe.

Bonne has scored three goals in 13 games for Billericay, who secured promotion via the Isthmian Premier Division play-offs.

They played in an all-Essex final against Brentwood Town, beating them 2-1 after extra-time. Callum Watts netted in the 118th minute to send Ricay back to the sixth-tier of English football for the first time since 2022.

On winning promotion, Bonne spoke to BBC Essex and said: “I’m delighted. I’ve only been here a short time and people questioned why I come down to the level and it’s for days like this.

“I could’ve gone higher in the football pyramid, but at the point in my career now, I want to make memories and glad I did make this move because I have another promotion under my belt.”

The Ipswich-born attacker spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Town from QPR, where he netted 12 times in 46 games during his spell at Portman Road.
