Refereeing decisions have been going against Manchester United all season, with another incident occurring during the draw with Sunderland.
After the high of beating Liverpool, this weekend, Manchester United and Sunderland played out a 0-0 draw, the first that the Red Devils have had this season.
United struggled to create chances, while Senne Lammens starred at the other end, keeping a clean sheet with some big saves one-on-one.
But it could have been very different as United had some chances, particularly toward the end of the game, to take a lead. While Sunderland should also have been down to 10-men.

In the 88th minute of United’s draw with Sunderland, Bruno Fernandes was fouled by Nilson Angulo, hitting the floor and holding his face.
The incident was unclear in real time, but upon seeing a replay, it became clear that the Sunderland player had lashed out at Fernandes. Flicking his elbow at Fernandes’ face.
The incident was cleared by VAR, leaving United fans furious at yet another contentious call against United.
After the game, former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg expressed his frustration over the incident, exclusively to United in Focus.
“I am shocked that the VAR did not intervene on a clear red card. Bruno Fernandes plays the ball forward to a teammate when Nilson Angulo comes in late with his arm raised.
“This was not an accident, as you can clearly see a further movement of the elbow to the head of Fernandes.
“This was not a football action in trying to play the ball, so Angulo had no defence as the ball had long gone. This sums up the standard of Premier League officiating this season.”
Clattenburg has made it clear he’s disgusted by the decision, and United are even more annoyed.
Should Nilson Angulo have been sent off for his elbow to Bruno Fernandes?
Mark Clattenburg certainly thinks so… 🤔
Getty Images Michael Carrick reacts to Bruno Fernandes foul
This is just the latest in a season full of bad decisions against Manchester United, which should see repercussions against those involved.
Speaking to the media after the game, Michael Carrick revealed that those on the United bench weren’t pleased by the foul.
“The staff on the bench weren’t too happy with it as well. I’m getting a little bit confused about what’s going on, really.”
Carrick also admitted Fernandes wasn’t pleased at all with the foul, and rightfully so.
United have had blatantly wrong decisions go against them so many times this season, but this might be the worst.
To see Fernandes take a forearm to the face off the ball and no punishment be given is a complete farce, endangering the United captain and greenlighting other players to act like this.
If the foul was the other way around, it almost certainly would have been a red. Serious changes are needed in the league.
