Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie was the first to get his marching orders, as his studs connected with Timothy Castagne’s calf with five minutes left to play of the first half.

Fulham’s Joachim Andersen was the next to see red in first half stoppage time, as he went in two-footed on Adrien Truffert and caught the left back high up his shin.

Both incidents initially saw yellow cards given by referee Andrew Madley, but he was sent to the screen for both and the card was upgraded to red.

Iraola said he believed both were the right decision.

“I think when you see the replays, I think both of them look red cards,” he told the Daily Echo.

“Yes, unfortunately for us, but I think live, probably I didn’t think that the Ryan Christie one looked like [a red] — but after you see the replay, you see the image, and I understand why they took the decision.”
