Leicester City may only have a minimal transfer budget this summer, according to reports. Though a supposed £10 million war chest would surely still dwarf most, if not all, other League One outfits.

In addition to that suggested figure, the East Midlands side could add capital to the quoted amount from sales – provided that the books, and Profit and Sustainability rules, balance. So leeway to introduce incoming players in the form of signings and loans does exist at King Power Stadium.

Judging from previous years, free transfers will be plentiful on Filbert Way too. Needs must.

A great crop at Leicester City over recent years

Youth promotion is actually the most exciting element for LCFC, considering the ridiculously promising Seagrave set-up. However, City’s best Academy products such as Jeremy Monga, Louis Page, Ben Nelson and Bade Aluko may soon be targeted by larger, better-placed organisations.

Foxes representatives are already allegedly in talks with Manchester United and Man City executives regarding Monga’s future. Arsenal, meanwhile, reportedly made the winger a ‘prime transfer target’. Although, he is not the only up-and-coming Fox on the Red Devils’ wishlist: Page is apparently present as well.

“Manchester City have also held talks with Leicester, specifically surrounding Monga, while the Reds also like the look of Foxes midfielder Louis Page, born in 2008.”

Man Utd Roundtable claim the versatile midfielder, 17, is significantly ‘liked’ in the M16 corridor. Jason Wilcox, Utd’s technical director, has reportedly engaged in dialogue with various English institutions to gauge the feasibility of such acquisitions.

Yeah, this is a potential problem

Losing two or three of these prospects could be devastating for Leicester, when thinking of specific inexpensive financial implications there, and elsewhere. To see Monga and Page (an athlete of such multifaceted potential) lured to Old Trafford would represent a profound erosion of the club’s long-term infrastructure.

For an organisation navigating the precarious waters of financial recovery, the departure of crown jewels before they have truly sparkled in the first team remains a haunting, ever-present spectre. The scenario is well within the realm of possibility.
