Amad has praised Manchester United coach Travis Binnion for his impact as part of Michael Carrick’s backroom staff. Carrick has won 10 of his 14 games since his appointment as United’s interim head coach in January.
Carrick has steered the club back into the Champions League, putting him in pole position to land the job on a permanent basis, but the turnaround has been a collective effort at Carrington.
The 44-year-old has worked alongside Steve Holland (assistant manager), Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion, and United’s improvement wouldn’t have been possible without his coaches.

Travis Binnion, former Under-21 manager, has made a great impression with the attention to detail in his drills. Binnion helped Benjamin Sesko enjoy a purple patch at the beginning of 2026, and the striker said he’d “helped him a lot” when he spoke after scoring against Everton in February.
Binnion initially stepped up to help the first-team during Darren Fletcher’s caretaker stint. He was retained by Carrick to continue in his role as first-team coach, a move that has made him a hit with the players.
Amad sat down for an interview with Sky Sports this week, discussing Carrick’s impact before highlighting the work of Binnion and the other coaches. “I enjoy playing for him a lot,” said the winger.
“He’s a good guy and has a good relationship with every player. He is someone who helps a lot, even when you are in tough moments, he’s there to talk to you, he’s there to help you.
“That is something that is really important. We are really happy to have him as a manager. I think the biggest change maybe is because the team is now more impactful. Like in the dressing room, we are really together.
“Every mistake is not a problem, your mistake is my mistake, so we are a team that doesn’t care if you make a mistake, you go again, so we go forward, we want to win as a team.
“That’s something that changed the team, and I think it’s also because of Michael Carrick and his staff – don’t forget also Trav [Travis Binnion] and the other staff. They are really important for the team, and they bring that kind of energy to the team, and that is very important.”
Amad made a mistake that led to a Liverpool goal last weekend, and Carrick was spotted encouraging him at the final whistle. “That is an example of what I say now. That is something the team have improved a lot in the last few months,” he said.
Asked whether Carrick should get the job full time, he added: “Honestly, it’s not the player who decides who is going to stay here next season, but what I can say [is] everyone is happy to have him as manager. Everyone is with him.
“He’s that manager who has a good relationship with every player, so we are really happy to have him as manager and, yeah, we will be happy if we have him next season as manager.”
