Chelsea might just have a new secret agent in town, as Blues-linked Filipe Luis has touched down in London to hang out with none other than Thiago Silva.
Filipe Luis spent a single, brief season at Chelsea after arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2014. Under Jose Mourinho, the left-back made 26 appearances across all competitions, winning the Premier League title and a League Cup winner’s medal.
After retiring as a player at Flamengo in 2023, Luis transitioned into management at the Brazilian club. Rapidly rising through the youth ranks, he took over the first team in late 2024 and enjoyed immense success, lifting the Copa del Rey equivalent (Copa do Brasil) and the prestigious Copa Libertadores.
Despite a ruthless sacking by Flamengo in March 2026, his impressive rise has made him one of global football’s most coveted young managers, linking him with Stamford Bridge.
Would you take Filipe Luis as manager with Thiago Silva as assistant?🤔
They’ve been hanging out together in London!

Filipe Luis is working tirelessly to gain his UEFA Pro Licence as quickly as possible in order to coach in England and elsewhere in Europe after links to Chelsea.
He’s not being mentioned as one of the frontrunners, but there has been interest.
And to make things even more interesting, Luis has been in London, taking the opportunity to link up with Chelsea hero Thiago Silva at a restaurant.
The former Chelsea defender posted a few images of the pair on his Instagram account.

Filipe Luis at the helm would be too much of a risk
Hiring Filipe Luis represents an immense gamble for Chelsea.
Despite his tactical intelligence, his senior managerial career spans just over a year. The high-pressure environment of the Premier League leaves no room for developmental errors, making his lack of European coaching experience a glaring concern.
Compounding this risk is a critical regulatory hurdle: Luis currently lacks the mandatory UEFA Pro Licence, meaning he cannot legally take charge of a top-flight English club. Relying on an unproven coach who requires legal loopholes just to sit in the dugout is a volatile move for a club desperate for stability.
