Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed that midfielder Will Hughes will be available for their Europa League Conference semi-final showdown against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Hughes missed Palace‘s Premier League clash against Bournemouth through illness as the Eagles were thrashed 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium.

But the veteran midfielder will return to the squad against Shakhtar on Thursday after beating the Ukraine side 3-1 away from home in the first leg.

“The good news is that Will Hughes is back,” he said in his press conference, also confirming that attacker Evann Guessand trained on Wednesday but won’t be fit enough to feature.

“Evann trained today, but it’s too early, so he doesn’t make the squad tomorrow. We have to assess on a daily basis,” the boss added.

Borna Sosa, Eddie Nketiah and Cheick Doucoure all remain sidelined for the showdown at Selhurst Park as Glasner aims to end his time at the club on a high.

The Austrian already cemented his place as one of the club’s all-time greatest managers by beating Manchester City in last year’s FA Cup final, and now he has a chance to win the Europa Conference League.

Glasner confirmed in January that he will leave Palace at the end of the season, despite Steve Parish’s best efforts of giving him a new contract.
