Nottingham Forest thrashed Chelsea, and it’s fair to say that Premier League survival is now tantalisingly close.

West Ham were beaten by Brentford at the weekend, and although Tottenham managed to win, there is now a six-point gap between Forest and the Hammers, with the Reds holding a superior goal difference.

Two talented Brazilian defenders at Nottingham Forest but do you agree with this sentiment?

Chelsea were put to the sword in emphatic fashion with Taiwo Awoniyi scoring twice, Igor Jesus scoring from the penalty spot, and Matz Sels saving a penalty for good measure.

In the analysis of the game, talk turned towards one player who wasn’t in the matchday squad for Forest, with Kelvin Wilson making a strong claim about Murillo.

It’s fair to say that Wilson has a strong view on Murillo, and he believes that he’s coming to the end of his time on Trentside.

The former Forest defender is currently out injured, and although he’s working his way back to full fitness, Wilson thinks the writing is now on the wall.

He told the Forest Focus podcast: “For me personally, I think Murillo will leave in the summer, that’s my personal opinion.

“I think Forest will cash in now, I think Murillo is an unbelievable player in his position, for his age, for his size, for his position he plays, he could be a Cannavaro and be one of the best defenders in the world, that’s how good I think he is.

“For me as a Forest fan, I think we’ve got the best out of him and I think his mind is away now, I think he wants to go, I think he’s protecting himself a bit. I’m not going to call someone out and say he’s not injured, but I think there have been times when he’s gone off and I think, under Ange I remember I think he was suggesting he’d hurt his back and Forest were obviously going through a hard time under Ange and he came off and he shook his head as though to suggest he didn’t believe him and I have got that gist too.

“I just think Murillo’s mind is now leaving the club.”

Forest have already replaced Murillo

Jair Cunha has been superb recently, and there is a real sense that Forest have hit the jackpot again with another Brazilian defender.

If Murillo does leave Forest, there will be another bounty of cash for the club to spend, and that can only bode well for the football club.

Vitor Pereira has worked wonders without Murillo in recent weeks, and there is now a genuine sign that there can be life after the defender at the football club.

Cunha has buckets of potential, and the first port of call if Murillo does head for pastures new should be to give the talented youngster a chance to grasp his compatriot’s place in the team on a regular basis.
