Manchester United have been closely informed about Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane ahead of the summer transfer window, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe a keen admirer.

Kane has an opportunity to reach the Champions League final, with Bayern Munich set to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the semi-final at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

The German side will have to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first leg, having succumbed to a 5-4 defeat in an enthralling encounter at the Parc des Princes, and Premier League leaders Arsenal are waiting in the final.

There are arguably few players in the world who deserve to win Europe’s elite competition more than the England captain, who has a whopping 54 goals to his name in all competitions this season.

As such, it is no surprise that Bayern view the striker as a vital player, according to a report from TEAMtalk, but he only remains under contract until the end of next season, raking in a whopping £416k-a-week.

Consequently, three Premier League clubs have been in close contact regarding a potential deal for Kane, namely Man United, Chelsea and former club Tottenham Hotspur, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe an admirer.

Former Bayern striker Luca Toni is a big fan too, saying: “I want to tell him that I’m in love with him as a footballer. Because he’s one of the few true number 9s left in the world, among all these false nines floating around. And he’s the best striker in the world.”

The Bundesliga champions want to tie the Englishman down to a new contract soon though, and he is prepared to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena, which means it could be difficult for United to lure him back to the Premier League.

However, a return to England isn’t completely off the cards, as the former Tottenham star still wants to surpass Alan Shearer as the all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League.

Signing Kane would certainly be a major statement from INEOS, with the 32-year-old currently second on the list of all-time Premier League goalscorers, having moved past Man United legend Wayne Rooney in his final campaign with Spurs.

Shearer is well within the Bayern star’s reach, but there is seemingly little reason to leave Bayern Munich at the moment, with his side challenging for the Champions League and winning two Bundesliga titles on the spin.
