Nice-Matin reports that Monaco have held talks with Wout Faes’ representatives over a possible summer move. The Leicester City centre-back is on loan at the principality club with an option to buy.

Faes has impressed, Monaco have lost two of his 12 Ligue 1 appearances and climbed into European contention. He was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win over Metz at the weekend after playing every minute of the previous 10 matches.

Even if Monaco do not complete a deal, City are likely to sell the 28-year-old during a summer of change.

He has one year remaining on his King Power contract, so this is the final summer in which City can command a fee. He joined from Reims in 2022 for £15m.

Maximising sales income will be central to City’s window, to offset reduced TV and sponsorship revenue associated with being in the third tier.

One departure is already progressing, with Bilal El Khannouss’s loan to Stuttgart set to become permanent after clauses were met. City also hold a sell-on clause in that agreement.
