Wolves have issued a statement after a supporter was struck by falling metal at Molineux during Saturday’s Premier League 1-1 draw with Sunderland. The club said in a statement that any necessary inspections and repairs will be carried out in the coming days.
A section of the South Bank was partially evacuated after a piece of metal fell from a public address speaker fixed beneath the stand roof.
The object hit a supporter, who was treated at the ground for minor injuries and did not require hospital care.
Around 200 fans were moved at half-time as a precaution, leaving a visible gap in the stand for the remainder of the match.
A fixing from a speaker on the roof of the Sir Jack Hayward Stand became dislodged and made contact with the supporter. Safety staff assisted immediately and on-site medical teams provided prompt treatment. The individual was able to return home after receiving care.
