Wolves face scrutiny over stadium safety after a supporter was hit by falling metal at Molineux during the 1-1 draw with Sunderland, with interim executive chairman Nathan Shi later questioned by fans.

The club said a fixing from a speaker on the roof of the Sir Jack Hayward Stand became dislodged and made contact with a supporter. The fan was treated inside the ground for minor injuries and did not require hospital care, then went home. The surrounding area was cleared at half-time with around 200 people moved, and inspections and repairs will follow in the coming days.

Footage on social media showed Nathan Shi being pressed about whether the stadium was safe as he walked to his car after the match.

He was also asked why Jeff Shi had spent significant time at the Compton training base and whether ownership group Fosun International had concerns about attendances and infrastructure.

The episode follows refurbishment work that began last summer at Molineux after supporters raised concerns.
