Nottingham Forest have been dealt another injury concern during their crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Morgan Gibbs-White was forced off little more than 20 minutes after entering the fray at Stamford Bridge. Having been brought on at half-time, he was replaced by Chris Wood in the 66th minute.

Gibbs-White was hurt in a clash of heads with Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez as both challenged for the ball. He received treatment on the pitch and had his bloodied head bandaged.

The Reds’ No.10 was at least able to walk off the pitch. Forest will hope he is fit for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Aston Villa.

The visitors had already lost defender Zach Abbott following a separate clash of heads in the capital. The youngster was a concussion substitution in the first half after colliding with Jesse Derry.

Referee Anthony Taylor had awarded a penalty to the hosts following Abbott’s challenge. However, Matz Sels made a crucial save and denied Cole Palmer from the spot.

By that point, Forest were already two goals up courtesy of one from Taiwo Awoniyi and an Igor Jesus penalty. Awoniyi added a third in the second half, finishing off a Gibbs-White ball.

The Reds were without defender Murillo, midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, winger Dan Ndoye and full-back Ola Aina in the capital. It is not known whether they will be fit for Thursday’s trip to Villa Park.
