Leeds United’s Premier League survival hopes received another lift after relegation rivals West Ham suffered a damaging defeat. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the latest setback for a rival represents another boost for the Whites.
On Friday night Leeds beat already relegated Burnley 3-1, moving nine points clear of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur and seven ahead of West Ham, with each rival then having four games left.
West Ham were next in action at Brentford on Saturday. Having lost only one of their previous six league games, they fell to a 3-0 defeat as Brentford climbed to sixth, leaving the Irons at risk of dropping into the bottom three.
For Leeds, the gap to West Ham remains seven points, and both clubs now have three matches left. West Ham host title-chasing Arsenal next.
The Irons still sit two points above 18th-placed Spurs, who can move out of the drop zone and above them with victory in their game in hand at Aston Villa on Sunday night.
