Arsenal have confirmed that Leah Williamson has put pen to paper on a new contract, committing herself to the club for a while longer.

The 29-year-old vice-captain has spent her entire career at Arsenal, joining the academy in 2006 as an eight-year-old and going on to make 282 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals (including last night’s header against Leicester City).

In her time in North London, she’s won virtually every honour available to her, including the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the FIFA Champions Cup, the Women’s Super League, four League Cups and two FA Cups.

On the international stage, Williamson has captained England to back-to-back European Championship titles in 2022 and 2025, a historic achievement that earned her an OBE and, subsequently, an MBE.

Her individual and team honours reflect her standing in the game as one of the most prominent figures in women’s football, and it probably comes as no surprise to fans that she would commit her future to the Gunners.

This season, she’s struggled with injuries, but a recent start against Lyon and a strong second half against Leicester show that she’s back on her way to the reliable defender that fans know and love.
