Trevoh Chalobah has hit back after being told he will be ‘playing for Leeds next season’ by a disgruntled Chelsea fan. Chalobah started for Chelsea during their weekend win over Leeds in the FA Cup semi-final, just days after manager Liam Rosenior was sacked by the board.
Enzo Fernandez’s goal in the first half of the contest was enough to separate the two sides, but Chelsea had to dig deep to see the win over the line. That included some spirited defensive work from Chalobah and his Chelsea team-mates, with Leeds coming close to an equaliser on several occasions.
Chalobah let out a show of emotion at the full-time whistle, with the defender turning to the travelling Leeds fans, letting out a massive roar, and even putting his finger to his lips. The clip was shared on social media, with the caption: “Trevoh Chalobah shushing Leeds fans. You love to see it, up the Chels.”
However, not all Chelsea fans were pleased to see the outburst, with one Blues fanatic replying: “He needs to relax he’s going there next season,” as if to suggest Chalobah isn’t good enough to play for the two-time European champions.
The 26-year-old was having none of it though, as he quoted the post by saying: “Na you need for relax, even your shadow no believe you.”
A defiant message from Chalobah, who also issued a rallying call to his team-mates following their semi-final win over Leeds. He told the club’s official website: “It’s just hunger, determination, and wanting to win,
“It’s wanting to win headers, those little things, that’s what’s needed. And when we do that, our quality shows. When obviously things aren’t going your way, and results don’t go our way, I think that’s what we can hold on to because we’ve shown it during parts of this season. It was the same conversation in the semi-final – we had to show our mentality, our winning habit, and our winning spirit.”
Chelsea return to action on Bank Holiday Monday, with a clash against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge. They will be hoping to take advantage of Forest’s Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa, given the second leg will be played that same Thursday.
After that, a trip to Liverpool is up next, before returning to Wembley for a clash against Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Their season concludes with match-ups at home to Tottenham and away to Sunderland.
