Bruno Fernandes is having a strong end to the season and is on course to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally for Premier League goal contributions.

On Monday night, Bruno Fernandes was influential as ever as Manchester United beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Fernandes registered his 19th assist in the Premier League this season, which means he is one away from the record (20), currently held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

With four games left to play, Fernandes has more to play for than assists, including Champions League qualification and his first-ever Premier League Player of the Year award.

Fernandes should etch his name into Premier League history this term, but he already has an incredible reputation at United.

The Portugal international has been United’s talisman since his 2020 transfer from Sporting CP.

All you need to do is look at Fernandes’ figures since signing for United. He now has as many Premier League goal involvements (140) for United in the Premier League as Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fernandes has 70 goals and as many assists, whereas Ronaldo scored 103 goals and registered 37 assists.

That means by equalling Henry and De Bruyne’s assist record, Fernandes would also surpass Ronaldo’s goal involvement tally.

This shows why Fernandes is being compared to club icons like Bryan Robson, who was another remarkable leader in the red shirt.

With 70 goal involvements in the Premier League to Fernandes’ name, 27 of them have come this season.

According to OptaJoe, those 27 goal involvements have been worth 30 points to United.

The same outlet claims it is the ninth time in Premier League history that a player has reached that total in a single campaign.

Fernandes is next in action on Sunday when United host Liverpool.
